Remember our friend Axl Rose? If not you can find my original post here: https://jewelsandtheboys.wixsite.com/just-a-mama-armed-wi/post/an-axol-what
In my previous post, I mentioned that Axolotls like water that is between 50 to 70 degrees F. I live in a hot and humid climate that makes it hard to keep his tank cool and that is why I decided to buy an aquarium chiller.
An aquarium chiller is a device used to regulate and control the temperature of water in an aquarium or fish tank. It is designed to lower the temperature of the water and maintain it at a desired level, especially in environments where the ambient temperature is higher than the optimal range for the aquatic life within the tank.
Aquarium chillers typically consist of a compressor, condenser, evaporator, and refrigerant. The chiller draws in water from the aquarium, passes it through the evaporator where the heat is absorbed, and then circulates it through the condenser where the heat is released. This process cools down the water, which is then returned to the aquarium at the desired temperature.
The temperature control of an aquarium chiller can be achieved through a built-in thermostat or a separate temperature controller. A person can set the desired temperature, and the chiller will activate or deactivate as needed to maintain that temperature. Some advanced models may also have additional features such as digital displays, alarms, and safety measures to prevent overheating or freezing of the water.
Aquarium chillers are commonly used in marine and reef aquariums, where maintaining stable and appropriate water temperatures is crucial for the well-being of Axl’sdelicate marine organisms. They are also useful in freshwater aquariums, especially for species that require cooler water conditions. In my case, I use it to chill axl’s tank.
I currently own the Baoshishan Aquarium chiller that is rated for a 40-gallonfirst tank. When I fist bought Axl I had a 20-gallon tank and I will tell you that it was hard to maintain the water parameters needed to keep him healthy and happy. The nitrates no matter what I did would continue to get too high. I decided instead of pulling my hair out (I just can’t pull off a bald look) I would upgrade the tank to a 50-gallon tank.
Now even with a 50-gallon tank the Baoshishan Aquarium chiller still keeps Axl chill and happy. I currently have the chiller set to 66 degrees F and my home living space thermostat is set to 77 degrees F.
Some Features of the Baoshishan Aquarium Chiller:
Works well for a 40-gallon tank
Safe for Aquariums and Hydroponics
Works in Salt and Fresh water tanks
Fast heat dissipation and little maintenance needed
One year warranty
